The people have spoken. I need to continue my journey in South America !!! I have been given many great suggestions of where excatly I should go. Gorm pointed in the direction of Venezuela and that sounded right.
So now I have booked my next flight ticket. I will go to Trinidad and Tobago – the southern Carribian Islands just outside of Venezuela (see on map). I saw some beach pictures and the ticket there was cheap, so I thought… Aaaaaahhh… Yes!
I will find a way getting to Venezuela just after the islands. But what to do? I need all the help and suggestions I can get. I plan to go and buy a Lonely Planet or something, but if you can guide me in any way, I will be gratefull.

While both islands are tropical, Trinidad is more industrial, while Tobago is the capital of paradise. I would suggest in Trinidad a trip to a popular beach – Maracas (the scene on the way to the beach is breathtaking). While at the beach you must have what they call bake and shark. In town, Port of Spain, try to have coconut water from one of the vendors located at the Queens Park Savannah, and find out where the closest roti shop is. My favorite is Hott Shoppe on Maraval Road. As you can tell by now Trinidad is a culinary delight. I believe it is also turtle nesting season and one can take a trip to a remote area to view huge leather back turtles make their annual trip to lay eggs on the beach – it is an amazing experience.
Time permitting, in Port of Spain, you can board a fast ferry for the equivalent of US$10 for a 2 hour trip to Tobago (there is also the choice of a 15 minute trip by plane – not sure of the cost now but it is relatively cheap). Tobago is a hidden treasure. Pleasant people and breathtaking beaches. Nature abounds. Tobago is the home to the oldest protected forest in the Western Hemisphere. Things to do in Tobago: a boat trip to the Buccoo Reef and Nylon pool, curry crab and dumplings on the Store Bay beach.
Hope you have a good time. I visit the islands alot on business and take some time out to soak up the culture and cuisine. It should be a memorable trip.

Oh yes; “The capital of paradise!!!” Thank you so much, Anthony, for giving me your personal suggestions and highlights. It really visualizes the experience to me, and I cannot wait for the coconuts, the curry crabs and the breathtaking beaches. I will follow your lead and report back to the blog.
